 Place value: Thousands, Hundreds, Tens and Units The place value cards can be separate.. or dragged on top of each other. The 'move' button is at the top of each card. A1: Place value cards counter A combination of place value cards and a counter. Set the counter going and watch the place value cards. Drag the cards on top of each other. Hide or show the numbers by clicking on them. The buttons from left to right: Drag the slider left or right to adjust the counting speed. Use the zero button to reset the numbers to zero. Click on the 7635 button to generate a random number. The plus and minus button will make the counter count up or down. Use the 100, 10 and 1 buttons to determine the counting increments. The play and stop buttons. Use the 'play once' button to count up or down in steps. A2: Place value counting machine A combination of dials and place value. The buttons from left to right: Reset the numbers to zero. Click on the 7635 button to generate a random number. Select the type of counting machine, TU, HTU or ThHTU. Use the up and down arrows on the counting machine to increase or decrease the numbers. Hide or show the numbers or dials by clicking on them. Count up and down in fractions. Use the buttons and slider to select the fraction, up or down, cancel or not cancel and the speed of counting. A fraction bar can be shown or hidden. Use the 'play once' button to count up or down in steps. The maximum is 10 and the minimum is 0.

 Estimating whole numbers and decimals: number lines The place value cards can be dragged on top of each other. Decimal number lines A8: 0 to 1000 (whole numbers) A9: 0 to 100 (numbers to 1 decimal place) A10: 0 to 10 (numbers to 2 decimal places) Show numbers on a number line. Place value cards are also used to show the numbers. Drag the number indicator along the number line using the 'move' button. A number can also be shown by clicking on the number line. Click inside the blue rectangle to show or hide the number. Use these buttons to show or hide various features on the number line or place value cards.. The number line can be used for estimating numbers: hide all the features then ask pupils to click on where they think a number is on the line. The number line can be used to show rounding of numbers. For example, round to the nearest whole number, select 1 and then drag the number indicator along the line. Let go and the number indicator will snap to the nearest whole number. Estimate the position of a point on an undivided line. A11: Numbers from 0 to 50 and 0 to 100 (whole numbers)

A20: Start with a decimal   The aim is to multiply or divide the red number by 10, 100 or 1000 to equal the blue target number. Click on the multiply and divide buttons. Each button can be used once. The more buttons used, the more points are scored. Click on the 'next' button when the target number is equalled or it's not possible to equal it. The game lasts for 2 minutes.
